Egelabra wool consistently tops sales of wool from pastoral zones, with one of its outstanding features being long lines of AAA and few odd lines.

Egelabra’s wool measures up:

  • Stud fleece weights of 2 to 7 year old Egelabra ewes averaged 7.2kg (average taken between 1990 and 2000).
  • Stud average micron: 20.9 (average taken between 1990 and 2000).
  • Stud average comfort factor: 99.3 (average taken between 1990 and 2000).

In 2000 David Upperton from Willowtree, New South Wales joined Egelabra as its Woolclasser. Since David started classing, each hogget ewe going back into the Stud has been fleece weighed, micron tested and scrutinised for comfort factor. By combining the latest objective measurement technology with years of subjective experience Egelabra is soundly positioned to maximise all opportunities in an evolving wool industry.

Characteristics unique to Egelabra wool are:

  • Soft, bright, white wool with good handle;
  • Excellent spin ability making Egelabra wool attractive to processors;
  • Exceptional comfort factor; and
  • Free from colour and stain.

These wool traits are passed to clients purchasing Egelabra stud rams.
